T-Mobile has announced that it will let its customers trade in their iPhone 6 for its successor for no additional fees. Customers will also be able to get the iPhone 6 successor first if they order it directly from the carrier within 48 hours of its launch.

“…everyone who already got an iPhone 6 for $15 per month automatically gets this deal. You don’t have to do a thing, except come get your new one whenever you want later this year,” T-Mobile CEO John Legere said in his announcement on the company’s blog. If users want a free upgrade, they have to get the iPhone 6 from T-Mobile for the $15/month JUMP! On Demand payment plan by September 7th. This new announcement is part of the company’s “Un-carrier Amped” promotion which has been running since the beginning of the summer season. Customers are also reminded that the company will only allow trading the iPhone 6 if their respective device is still in good condition.

It is being speculated that Apple will be launching its next smartphone, rumoured to be called the iPhone 6S, in September. The carrier’s new promo is undoubtedly a happy surprise for its customers. The new promo will make it easier for customers to switch to the latest iPhone without having to worry about changing payment plans or spending additional fees. This also opens up the possibility to sway customers to abandon their current carriers, and switch to T-Mobile.

Also, this promo is a good trick to get the iPhone 6S for free. Customers can simply opt in for the JUMP! On Demand plan to get the 6 just days before the launch of the iPhone 6S. When the new model launches, they can go and swap their 6 for a 6S.

In addition, the company also announced that Apple Music will also be part of the carrier’s Music Freedom streaming service. This means that customers will be able to stream and listen to unlimited music without having to worry about reaching their monthly data cap.

As The Verge warns, customers who opt in to trade their iPhone 6 for the iPhone 6S won’t actually own it. The iPhone 6S will be given to T-Mobile customers on a lease.
